Is CPAP Rainout Dangerous and How Do I Stop It?

CPAP rainout happens when the heated air in your tubing cools down and condenses into water by the time it reaches your mask, resulting in a damp face. This can be quite uncomfortable, potentially waking you up due to the sensation of water on your skin or the gurgling noise caused by condensation in the tube.

My CPAP Is Making Noise

Does the noise originate from the CPAP machine?

If so, ensure the filter is not clogged, check for cracks in the humidifier, and reinsert the water tub.

Does the noise originate from outside the CPAP machine?

If so, are there high unintentional leaks? If there are high unintentional leaks, are there mouth leaks (for patients with a nasal mask)? Consider using a chin strap. If the issue persists, switch to a full face mask
